In the book, “KEEPING PACE; INSPIRATIONS IN THE AIR”, Ernest A. Fitzgerald wrote about the old parable of an eagle that landed on a log floating down a slow-moving river. The sun was shining even though it was a freezing cold day. The eagle enjoyed his easy ride down the gentle river.
Later, the peaceful river became restless as it approached the dangerous waterfall ahead. The eagle waited until the log reached the precipice. At the last moment, the eagle spread its wings to fly. It was too late. The bird’s feet had become frozen to the log.
The moral of that fable has to do with decision making. Life is filled with many choices and decisions. For many people that is the toughest part of living. Indecision eventually becomes a decision, and often it’s the wrong one. How to make up our mind is a process everyone needs to consider.
Applying wisdom greatly helps us in decision making, and wisdom is available to us. James 1:5-6 (ESV) assures us that, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
Wisdom from above enlightens our understanding and clarifies the issues. It helps us make rights decisions in difficult times. So, ask God for wisdom from above.
