There is an interesting story about ships and anchors in Acts 27. Here was a ship laboring against the threatening wind of the wild Mediterranean Sea. Verse 29 says, “Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon the rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.”
This is the dramatic story of Paul’s perilous sea voyage to Rome that ended when the boat wrecked on the island of Malta. Like ships, we also need anchors in our life, because there are storms in life worse than the winds on the Mediterranean Sea.
here are seasons when we face the winds of doubt, the bitter seas of sorrow, the tempest of temptation, and disappointment.
But we need not fear because, there is an anchor that will hold through all the storms. His name is Jesus, and the bible says, “He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Here are four anchors that we can count on:
1. His Presence. He will never leave nor forsake us. His Word assures that!
2. His Promises. Not one of His promises will fail. His Word declares that truth
3. His Providence. He sees, He knows, He guides, and provides His Word is filled with examples of that reality.
4. His Performance. What He has said, He will do. The bible is evidence of this.
